A little Halloween in Romania...

The branch had a Halloween activity even though they don’t really celebrate Halloween here. I was trying to think of a costume and was looking through some of the big trunks in the back of our apartment. I found some colored cardstock and pipe cleaner and assembled myself a traffic light costume. Not too bad for a last minute costume.

Ashley and Dani had spent all yesterday and today making cupcakes because we were supposed to bring treats and only had a 6 slot muffin tin. Apparently no one makes cupcakes here because they were definitely a hit! Everyone wanted the recipe and they went like hot cakes.

They had asked us to prepare some games for the activity. We did the “see if you can guess what body part is inside the box” with spaghetti noodles, grapes, etc. Then, we also had planned on doing the whip cream with gum underneath so that everyone has to stick their face in the whip cream and find the gum and blow a bubble. They didn’t have bubble gum – only gumdrops, but it still worked out. The kids loved it.

The missionaries had invited a lot of investigators to the activity. It was an amazing turn out. They had about 35 new people that were all investigators. Granted, coming to a Halloween activity is not necessarily coming to church, but it’s a start!

Even though it was no trick or treating - it was still Halloween Romanian style!

Next week we will be visiting Bran Castle, the original Dracula's castle in Transylvania. That should be creepy enough to make up for our lack of halloween celebrations!
