Today was much better at the hospital and at the orphanage. I’m starting to get into the hang of things. And tonight, I made a delicious pasta that reminded me of home with noodles, alfredo sauce and lots of stir-fry vegetables. It was delicious! I have been running super low on food and have needed to go to the grocery store. I’ve been eating cereal for breakfast and lunch and eating whatever I have left in the cupboard for the past few days. Don't worry Mom, I promise I'm not starving and I'm not just eating junk. I drink my multivitamin juice and eat my mueslix cereal every morning. Call me a granola :) It didn’t help that our refrigerator was left open Sunday when we went to Moldova for 10 hours and a lot of our stuff spoiled. But, on a good note – a few of us went to Kaufland (Macy’s/Wal-mart) and got groceries tonight. I was able to get a lot of stuff for about 75 lei (About 25 dollars)! I was thrilled and I now have my own fresh fruit basket in the kitchen! I’m going to try to be better about cooking. They told us we shouldn’t get lettuce, because it is very difficult to wash and to be safe it is better if we don’t but it. I’m a salad girl, so this not having lettuce situation is a bit tough. That's how I get my greens. However, I’m still getting my fruits (bananas, oranges, apples, nectarines, peaches) and I’m working on my veggies. I got some bell peppers and onions to cook with and I got lots of the frozen veggies (I know, not as great, but safer) and I’ve been working on my cooking. Another bonus, I finally found spaghetti sauce...Hooray! It has never been my forte, but I’m working on it! Last week I attempted mash potatoes and gravy – complete fail. However, I learned what NOT to do for next time! I also concocted my own soup with chicken boullion cubes, noodles and lots of different veggies. I know, it is super simple and not a big deal, but it is to me Ms. Sandwich queen! I still haven’t attempted cooking meat. To me, it just seems like more of a hassle, plus growing up, I got used to vegetarian style and I’m okay with it. I am really trying my best to overcome my lack of cooking skills. In a few months, you may want to address me as Betty Crocker :) Just kidding!
