running, running, running!

Yesterday, after a long sabbatical, I was finally able to go for a good run - even if it was 91 degrees outside. As I ran, I thought about all the things I would miss when I am gone. I will miss good old grandview, a place where almost every car waves because it is either your mom, friend, friends mom, neighbor, etc. I will miss seeing my brother leave on his mission (YAY for Dan!), I will miss the loud family dinners at Thanksgiving, hanging out with all of my married friends lol, I will miss BYU and the good old tanner building, I will miss Saturday night pizza at our house, I will miss hopping in a car and heading to the grocery store and knowing what I am buying, I will miss church in English, I will miss my own room, I will miss having home-cooked meals from Mom, I will miss Ben playing the piano at 7:30 in the morning or 11 at night (Okay, so I won't miss that too much!), and most of all miss my family.

However, there are so many things I am looking forward to. I am looking forward to a new adventure, learning all of the odd quirks about Romanians, eating gogosi (a fabulous donut type delicacy in Romania), shopping at the piata (the market), using peach scented toilet paper (yes, you heard right, scented toilet paper!), being able to speak Romanian and actually communicate with strangers, not having to put makeup on my face everyday, using the shower that the washer water supposedly drains into occasionally, attending church in a different part of the world, making friends with the other interns, and most importantly - meeting the kids at the orphanage and the hospital and contributing my part to make a difference in their lives.

It is only 2 weeks away and I still feel like I have a million things to do to get ready!
